Anti-Money-Laundering & Anti-Fraud Policy

Gift cards are convenient. That makes them attractive for fraud and money laundering. This policy explains the checks we run and what we may ask of you.

Last updated July 27, 2026

1. Our commitment

GiftCardHawk, operated by Labelle Digital LLC, is committed to preventing our services from being used to launder money, finance illegal activity, or move the proceeds of fraud. We take a risk-based approach that is proportionate to our size and the nature of our business, and we comply with applicable anti-money-laundering (AML), counter-terrorist-financing (CFT), and sanctions laws.

2. Who this applies to

This policy applies to everyone who transacts with us: customers who buy gift cards from us, people who sell cards to us through our buy-back service, and any partner or supplier. By using these services you agree to cooperate with the checks described here.

3. Our risk-based approach

Not every transaction carries the same risk, so our checks scale with it. A small, ordinary purchase is treated lightly; larger amounts, unusual patterns, or anything that trips our fraud signals receive additional verification before we proceed. We would rather delay or decline a transaction than complete one we can't stand behind.

4. Customer identification & verification (KYC)

To use our buy and buy-back services you must provide accurate contact information. Depending on the amount and risk, we may also ask you to:

  • Confirm your identity with a government-issued photo ID.
  • Verify the email, phone, or payment account used for the transaction.
  • Explain the source of the cards or funds involved.

We may refuse or unwind any transaction if we can't reasonably verify who we're dealing with, or if information provided is false or inconsistent.

5. Proof of ownership (selling to us)

When you sell cards to us, you represent that you are the lawful owner and that the cards were obtained legally. For larger or higher-risk buy-backs we may require proof of purchase (such as a store receipt) or other evidence of ownership before we pay. We do not knowingly buy cards that were obtained through theft, fraud, or scams.

6. Transaction monitoring & limits

We monitor activity for patterns associated with laundering and fraud, for example transactions structured to stay under a threshold, rapid repeat activity, mismatched identities, or dealings involving high-risk jurisdictions. We may set per-transaction, daily, or cumulative limits, and adjust them at our discretion. Attempting to evade a limit or check is itself grounds for us to decline and report.

7. Sanctions & screening

We do not do business with individuals or entities on applicable sanctions lists (including lists maintained by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control, "OFAC"), or with anyone located in a comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction. Where appropriate we screen customers against these lists and will decline or freeze transactions that raise a match.

8. Prohibited customers & activity

You may not use our services to:

  • Buy, sell, or launder gift cards obtained through fraud, theft, or any crime.
  • Convert the proceeds of unlawful activity into cards or cash.
  • Structure transactions to avoid reporting thresholds or our internal limits.
  • Act on behalf of a sanctioned or undisclosed third party, or provide false identity information.
  • Facilitate any scam, including the gift-card scams described in our Safety Center.

9. Suspicious activity & reporting

Where we identify activity that appears suspicious or unlawful, we may pause, decline, or reverse it, request further information, and, where required or appropriate, report it to the relevant authorities. We are not obligated to notify you of a report, and in some cases the law prevents us from doing so.

10. Records & cooperation with law enforcement

We keep records of transactions and verification information for as long as needed to run our business and to meet legal and regulatory obligations. We cooperate with valid requests from law enforcement and regulators in accordance with the law and our Privacy Policy.
